White Tara Thangka | Hand-Painted Symbol of Longevity and Compassion

White Tara, one of the Twenty-One Taras in Tibetan Buddhism, embodies the healing power of compassion and the blessing of long life. She is revered as the divine mother who protects from suffering, dispels obstacles, and grants vitality and peace. Her presence teaches that purity of heart and loving awareness bring true renewal.

In this thangka, White Tara appears in radiant white, seated gracefully upon a lotus throne. Her serene face reflects infinite compassion, while the lotus symbolizes purity untouched by the world’s afflictions. Adorned with a five-leaf crown and jeweled ornaments, she holds the gesture of blessing and protection. Worship of White Tara is believed to bring longevity, inner balance, and the gentle power of compassionate wisdom.

Hand-painted in Lhasa, Tibet, this thangka exemplifies the precision and spiritual devotion of traditional Tibetan craftsmanship. Natural mineral pigments — such as malachite for greens, azurite for blues, and cinnabar for reds — are ground by hand and layered with exquisite care. Each line and color blend reflects years of meditative practice, turning artistry into a sacred offering of mindfulness and faith.

Created by Lixindi, a national-level inheritor of Tibetan intangible cultural heritage, this thangka combines technical mastery with profound spiritual depth. His brushwork captures living presence — as Tibetan masters say, “When the image breathes, the blessing lives.” In this White Tara thangka one can sense the gentle field of healing and long life opened by each careful stroke.

This thangka carries the blessings of White Tara — healing, longevity, and compassionate protection. Ideal for altars, meditation rooms, or quiet living spaces, it brings a calming presence that supports practice and daily wellbeing.

“Purity of heart opens the path to long life.”
Invite the grace of White Tara — a hand-painted thangka that embodies longevity, healing, and compassionate care.

Each Thangka is a hand-painted narrative of enlightenment. Master artisans grind natural pigments from minerals and plants, then spend months in a meditative process to depict sacred Buddhist subjects, like the compassionate Buddha or intricate mandalas. This is more than decor—it's a tangible piece of Tibetan spiritual heritage, charged with intention and timeless artistry.

FOUNDER STORY

From artist Li Xindi

Li Xindi is an outstanding female inheritor of China's contemporary Thangka art, an intangible cultural heritage, and the "Ambassador for Intangible Cultural Heritage Communication in the New Era". She was once a teacher aiding Tibet. In 2012, she became attached to Thangka art after encountering Thangka murals and has been engaged in Thangka painting for 13 years. She has studied under many renowned mentors such as Niangben, Danzeng Nima, and Luozang Rejie, delving deep into the craftsmanship. Despite numerous hardships during the creative process, she has always maintained a sincere love for Thangka art. With her exquisite skills, she has become a backbone in the inheritance of contemporary Thangka intangible cultural heritage. In November 2023, she was awarded a certificate of honor (No. 20232062) jointly certified by the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Recording Project and the China ICH Big Data Center, making remarkable contributions to the inheritance and dissemination of Chinese Thangka art.
