Green Tara Thangka | Hand-Painted Emblem of Swift Compassion and Protection

Green Tara embodies active compassion and the swift energy of enlightenment in motion. Known as the “Mother of All Buddhas,” she offers protection from fear and suffering, guiding beings toward liberation with her ever-watchful grace. Her presence reminds practitioners that true compassion is not passive — it acts instantly to relieve pain and nurture awakening.

In this thangka, Green Tara is depicted in radiant green, symbolizing vitality and compassionate action. She sits upon a blooming lotus, her right leg slightly extended — ever ready to rise and aid those in need. Her right hand gestures generosity, while her left holds a blue utpala lotus, representing purity blossoming amidst life’s challenges. Surrounded by a luminous halo and celestial clouds, she emanates calm strength and divine benevolence.

Hand-painted in Lhasa, Tibet, this thangka carries the lineage of sacred craftsmanship. Natural mineral pigments — malachite, azurite, and cinnabar — are layered with meditative care to achieve rich, enduring tones. Each brushstroke reflects the painter’s devotion and focus, transforming natural color into spiritual light.

Created by Lixindi, a national-level inheritor of Tibetan intangible cultural heritage, this Green Tara thangka reveals profound serenity and compassion through vivid expression. His refined technique and spiritual insight breathe life into the image — as Tibetan masters say, “When Tara’s gaze meets yours, blessings arise instantly.”

This thangka invokes Green Tara’s blessings of protection, peace, and quick aid. Ideal for altars, meditation spaces, or as a meaningful collector’s piece, it radiates harmony and fearless compassion in every detail.

“Compassion in action is the path to freedom.”
Invite the swift grace of Green Tara — a hand-painted thangka that embodies courage, love, and enlightened compassion.

FOUNDER STORY

From artist Li Xindi

Li Xindi is an outstanding female inheritor of China's contemporary Thangka art, an intangible cultural heritage, and the "Ambassador for Intangible Cultural Heritage Communication in the New Era". She was once a teacher aiding Tibet. In 2012, she became attached to Thangka art after encountering Thangka murals and has been engaged in Thangka painting for 13 years. She has studied under many renowned mentors such as Niangben, Danzeng Nima, and Luozang Rejie, delving deep into the craftsmanship. Despite numerous hardships during the creative process, she has always maintained a sincere love for Thangka art. With her exquisite skills, she has become a backbone in the inheritance of contemporary Thangka intangible cultural heritage. In November 2023, she was awarded a certificate of honor (No. 20232062) jointly certified by the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Recording Project and the China ICH Big Data Center, making remarkable contributions to the inheritance and dissemination of Chinese Thangka art.
